The Challenge

Drawing informs everything, from painting to sculpture to dance. It teaches us how to recognize subtleties of colour and form. It teaches us to be present and to observe. It teaches us how to see. Herein lies the documentation of my desire to become more disciplined, to become a better artist—and, ultimately, a better person–by drawing daily.

Day One: Still Life with Pomegranates

I love the greasy quality that Yupo lends to drawing. Though it has its limitations in terms of versatility, the way the ink smears into streaks of oily blackness is so delicious.
